Without a cell phone or iPad, I, a female executive of thirty-one, retired for three years on the south of St. Lucia, where most of the countryside locals had never seen a white person before, I was in search for safety within, without any distraction of the modern society. My daughter, Indyra, three years old, wise then, stood by me, held my hand when needed, and taught me that love and abundance exist, even if, underneath our professional smiles and ongoing stressful life, we have lost the connection to the essence of those powerful words. I had to go from losing my true self making fast money in the high society circle of the '99 to learning to survive daily life in lush tropical nature; helping out on banana plantations with machetes; washing our clothing in the river; cooking on lumber; back to living in society; healing myself of cancer; and overcoming emotional challenges with gained certainties, firm steps, prosperity, and peaceful breathing as a yoga instructor, writer, and shaman in the Mayan territory.
